Birds and bats baseline study

100MW El Ktef Wind Farm

Tunisia, Zarzis Coastal Region 2018 - 2021

The purpose of this assignment is to establish comprehensive baseline information on the avian and bats communities for the a 100 MW wind power project located in Eastern Tunisia (near the Libyan border), compliant with requirements of the international environmental standards (WB EHS/IFC PS6). This information is crucial for finetuning the design of the wind farm layout, to propose appropriate monitoring programs and effective mitigation measures; all of which are also part of the assignment. The project is located in a semi-desert peninsula between the Mediterranean and a lagoon classified as Ramsar site, so waterbirds were the main concern regarding potential impacts.
